Today was probably not the best day. To say that my day was "not the best" is probably an understatement. Bad Luck would probably best suit the situation.
Remember those superstitions? The ones that would beget great misfortune? Over the past few days I must have seen a black cat, broken a mirror or maybe it was the time I walked under a workers ladder near Ashfield station.
The morning began in a wearisome manner as my pleasant dream was hastily interrupted. I think I was dreaming about(----------) ,no seriously!
8.02am. Shit. Not a good sign. Fortunately, I made it to the station in time. The 8.19am express to central was just pulling into the station and I fumbled through my pocket for my train ticket. Shit. I must’ve left it in my shirt pocket yesterday afternoon. In a desperate attempt, I approached the wide gates. Putting on an innocent face (not really), I asked the train officer:
“I forgot my train pass today, can you let me through?”
“No, go buy ticket.”
“Can’t you just let me thr…”
“Go buy ticket!”
He even raised his index finger and pointed it at the ticket machine. Do I look blind to you? Damn you, you Asian man! I would have stayed to argue, but such arguments as these, the Asian always wins.
There had been a massive queue at the ticket machine. I stood there in despair as my train slowly departed. Fortunately, the people in front of me were Monday Morning regulars, swiftly purchasing their weekly ticket and entering the station. “Student, Central, Day return” I punched the buttons and the price came up: “$3.40” Is that right? I always thought it was $2.80, isn’t it? Still I had a train to catch, let’s worry about that later.
The train was hot and stuffy, and god damn, the blistering weather was almost unbearable.
Thinking I was late, I sprinted to the bus stop, just making the last bus to school. It was a good sign. Looking out the window, Bailey was glaring at me, knowing that I had run past him and made the bus. It was an alleviating feeling.
I would love to discuss the events that followed at school, but I shall skip it for today. After school, we had all been in a rush to catch our routine Penrith train (I think?). “Stand clear, Doors closing” Oh I hate that noise, especially when I’m on the outside of the train. To my relief, I had somehow made it onto the train, as did Sean, Kai, Arun and plenty others. However, John Du did not make it onto the train. It was a matter we all wholeheartedly laughed about.
Monday? Monday meant English tutor, but first we made a pit stop at Hungry Jacks. I warn you, if you’re looking for fast food, consider eating elsewhere. Hungry Jacks at Burwood has terrible service. After ordering a cheap “$4.95 cheeseburger stunner deal”, I received my meal a mere twenty minutes later (yeahhhhh, ONLY twenty minutes). I was going to be, once again, late for tutor. Luckily the teacher was late. However, I was soon to learn that she had fainted (at least that’s what my dad told me). Get better soon Susie! Fortunately, we had a replacement. I don’t know if this was good or bad news, but an hour into the lesson, I had convinced myself that bad luck had struck again. Kai and I were almost to the point of falling asleep as she was easily sidetracked, recounting her experiences as a teacher (I hope she doesn’t read this). Nevertheless, she provided us with a booklet of language devices and I felt that the hard-worked for $66 had gone down the drain.
After I had returned home, I was greeted by a sweet aroma emanating from the kitchen. My mum had made chicken wings! (yumyumyumyum, nomnomnomnom) Quoting from “Zombieland”: “Rule 33: Enjoy the little things in life” This had surely brightened up my day.
Bad luck, Good luck, it’s nothing but a feeling. To tell you the truth, your luck is the same as anyone else’s. So stop believing that everything that happens to you is down to luck and that anything bad is due to bad luck. Focus on the positive things and “Enjoy the little things in life!”
Shit. I just dropped my mouse on the ground and it looks like it’s beyond repair.

ReplyDeleteWhat makes it bad luck is not one or two incidents which can easily be written off as random but when they are a series where you can write a book about it.
ReplyDeleteBad luck? Count me in!
I have no talents at all and was basically born as a joke and at least make others laugh...........as long as it's unintentional or otherwise I am looked at like an alien from another planet.
I wonder if in a past life before my birth
ReplyDeleteI might have been a court jester and my sub conscience is suffering from some kind of with drawl that makes me anxious and have mood swings always wondering how others will perceive me?
One thing I've noticed is on video games especially platformers I always tend to panic when I feel pressured and wind up creating a self fulfilling death but I cannot help it no matter how much I try so I feel left out of the crowd.
ReplyDeleteI am only good at First Person shooters even though I don't like the majority of them.
