the end of the world?

It's been a long stressful week (By long i mean tiring. It hasn't been long actually, I've only had to spend a mere four hours at school). Exams are finally over!

Back to the main purpose of today's blog. The title is not as depressing as it sounds. Having a day off just after exams, I launched myself into a few recently released movies. I had the pleasure of watching the film “Zombieland”, 5 rows from the front at Burwood Greater Union cinemas. The title is as it says, a zombie populated Earth, with our typical heroes dispatching of them in the most inhumanely ways possible (not to give too much away). With zombies roaming the cities and eating up bodies on the highway, this truly is the end of humanity. (MA15+ !!!)

The other movie I put myself to watch today was “2012”. Luckily I saved myself the fifteen dollars, watching it on my home computer on the tiny 18inch screen. For those who haven’t seen it, I shall sum it up for you:

“ The world ends. The planet is spectacularly destroyed as great cities slide into the sea, skyscrapers crumble into dark chasms and a super volcano spews ash and rock into the air. Oh, and there's a series of simultaneous mega-tsunamis that wash everything else away. The end.” Andrew Frost, Sydney morning herald.

We are most definitely obsessed with the end of the world. It will happen of course, but I can reassure you that it will not be 2012. Who knows, the government might actually be building those gigantic arks. With the technology these days, such a film is not as hard to make, with the special effects enhancing our view of the apocalypse. However, despite the catastrophes, we persevere in the hope that we will somehow survive.
